Examiner.com: Yet another successful BUSINESS EVENT at Chicago's BLOCK 37
Overlooking a fabulous fourth floor view of the original Marshall Field and Company Building at the prestigious intersection of State and Randolph, all early indications suggest that Skokie-based “avid networker, dedicated entrepreneur and community organizer” Shalom Klein appears to have done it again.
Coordinating the participation of over 100 Chicagoland employers and ingathering thousands of success-oriented people searching for that long overdue opportunity to prove their worthiness, demonstrate their skills and once again or, perhaps for the first time, count themselves among the ranks of the employed, is an enormous undertaking.
Kudos to Shalom. He just keeps getting better and better.

OU Job Board and Jewish B2B Networking Present Chicago Job Fair, Thurs., 10/30 at Block 37
The OU Job Board and Jewish B2B Networking will join forces to present a Job Fair and Small Business B2B (Business to Business) event in Chicago, Thursday, October 30, from 10 a.m. to 3p.m. at Block 37, 108 North State Street. The event is being held in coordination with the Small Business Advocacy Council, an organization that provides the link that puts businesses together. It will be the fourth annual employment and B2B event in Chicago, the OU Job Board’s second year as partner and third year of participation. The OU Job Board is sponsored by the Orthodox Union.
The OU Job Board’s Job Fair will feature more than 25 employment recruiters, with several hundred candidates expected to attend. The jobs to be offered include varied categories from lower level entry jobs to upper management positions in both profit and non-profit environments.
Registered candidates will be expected to demonstrate the background and credentials to qualify for the positions being offered. According to Michael Rosner, executive director of the Job Board, the presence of qualified candidates, rather than those without the necessary backgrounds, accounts for the great success of OU job fairs; these fairs feature a higher percentage of job offers (some made on the spot) and callbacks than other fairs, which include unscreened job seekers. There is no charge for job seeker attendance, with pre-registration, which is required. Walk-ins will be assessed a $20 fee.
“The OU Job Fair’s success in Chicago last year made it obvious that we would return again to continue to work with Jewish B2B Networking to fulfill the important goals of both our organizations,” Mr. Rosner said. “On October 30, with the fall Jewish holidays in the past, people’s attention will be directed to employment, and we intend to open as many doors as possible for job candidates, whether they are currently working, working part-time, or unemployed. This is what OU job fairs are all about.”
Shalom Klein, director of Jewish B2B Networking, declared: “Jewish B2B Networking and the OU Job Board share a similar mission in helping connect employers looking for talent and people seeking their next career opportunity. We are excited to bring the OU’s successful programming to Chicago for the second local job fair. We expect that it will draw large crowds, major employers and make a real difference in the community.”
Candidates and employers are invited to register at www.oujobs.org. For questions, contactjobsco@ou.org or call 212-563-4000 and ask for the Job Board.

Tel Aviv University and Northwestern University Become "Sister Universities"
Agreement calls for unprecedented academic cooperation
Tel Aviv University has signed an agreement with Northwestern University declaring the two institutions “sister universities,” TAU announced on April 2. The academic cooperation pact was made official during a visit to the Tel Aviv campus by a delegation of top Northwestern officials led by Northwestern President Prof. Morton Schapiro.
New joint programs with TAU’s Sackler School of Medicine, Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, and the Department of Film and Television at the David and Yolanda Katz Faculty of the Arts will complement current programs linking Northwestern with TAU’s Recanati Business School and Buchmann Faculty of Law. The two institutions will expand their academic cooperation to include joint programs, collaborative research projects, combined seminars, and workshops, and shared guidelines for graduate degrees and student and faculty exchanges. Students will also be able to apply for joint programs in public health, law, and technology, in addition to joint study programs for dual academic degrees in business management and law.
Prof. Schapiro said he hoped the agreement would lead to a deeper academic relationship between the two universities. “The purpose of having such a large delegation in Israel is to strengthen academic cooperation between the two universities,” Prof. Schapiro said, praising the “high level of research” at TAU.
Tel Aviv University President Prof. Joseph Klafter thanked his counterpart for “determinedly and energetically standing with Israel” against attempts by academic organizations to boycott Israeli educational institutions for political reasons. Prof. Raanan Rein, vice president of TAU, said that the visit was an important element in the “strategy for the globalization of the university,” home to the largest number of international academic programs in Israel.
